  1. I have created a demonstration thread to see whether anyone is interested. Yes, it's only a tavern RP for now however the prospects could be much larger if it succeeds!
  2. (( This is a little bit of an experiment to see if it garners much interest. )) [In Character Rules] § Please abide by Stormwindian Law else you will be removed from the premises by the Guard. Depending on your act of treason, you will be fined, jailed or executed in this universe. Whilst fights are not unanticipated, remember that they are still frowned upon and will be controlled. § As you'd expect, this is strictly an Alliance-only setting. There will be few to no exceptions. § Please have some reasoning for being located in Stormwind in this tavern. § The locals here are rowdy. [Out Of Character Rules] § Posting will be turn-based. When interacting with a character, please consider the paragraphs before your own. § ((Out of character comments should be marked with double brackets)) § Feel free to create the setting and an introductory atmosphere, § Follow your peers lead. Cooperate with fellow roleplayers and do not ignore their contributions. § There are 9 retail NPCs located in the Tavern which I will control unless it's a small action/reaction to your gestures. Any further characters created by yourselves must be authentic and relevant however they do not have to be your own character. § If you choose to emote an action against another player, please be considerate that they may not wish to comply. Where possible, leave the outcome open for the individual to respond.
  3. 'Pig and Whistle' A man in tattered garments sits perched on a wall, toying with a shiv in his hands. A crowd of estranged travellers start to flock around him, curious about his ramblings. Uncertain as to why, your curiosity pulls you closer. His speech becomes more coherent as you approach: "…stands in the Old District quarter. I can tell you that it’s a well-known favourite for our lackey Guard. Placed right next to the barracks. Convenient that, ain’t it?” He chuckles. “Those plated knuckleheads spare no time in clocking off, kicking off their heavy boots to wash down the long afternoon with a bitter draught. Lucky for me, this is easy-pickins if you're lookin' to line your pockets. Rumour has it that its the longest standing tavern in Stormwind with ol'buggers from past Wars, veterans of the First and Second, livin’ face-down on its stinkin’ floor boards." "If there’s anywhere in Stormwind that’s got dirt on someone, they’re in there. An’ not only that, you'll be struggling to avoid ‘em through all the smoke and drunkards being tossed out by their arses. Word has it one man got trampled beneath the ruckus and nobody even bat an eyelid!". The man's gaze wanders for a moment "…you know, I can't think of anywhere else more like home." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ An example of an introductory paragraph. If someone sets the scene, please follow suit. You are welcome to use this as the first post. A midnight blanket descended over the night sky, the city streets suddenly black save for the warm glow of households and the reflections on the canals. The clanger of a bell rung softly, swaying about a mule's neck as it crossed the cobbled streets. Following closely by, a wispy man loaded with satchels and trinkets plodded in unison, creating a band of noises that utterly disturbed the silence. After crossing a several bridges, they made their way across the winding street toward the Old District. Its decrepit sign was indicative of the poverty that lied within. After a firm pat, the mule marched toward the arched stone entrance. Further inside the quarter, the homeless began to line the corners of the city, huddled together in search of shelter and warmth. As the man and his pack mule delved deeper into the district, the buildings around them became more dilapidated, their rusted signs creaking with every gust of wind. Two crows, surprised by the weather, took flight and began circling the traveller overhead. Eventually the man arrived at the tavern, but it was quieter than he remembered; only two men stood outside with slumped postures. Their blue-trimmed helmets were clasped within the crook of their arm to allow them to drain their tankards with practised ease. One started to sway, bellowing a laughter so loud that he was amazed it did not wake the whole orphanage next door. An aching stung his arm suddenly from carrying the large sack and prompted him onward. He tied up the mule to a nearby post and ventured inside. Shockingly the tavern was empty save for three men and a woman huddled together, the barkeep and the local drunk, Bartleby. The smell was as musky as he’d remembered, and the room still dimly lit by candles. There were a few minor repairs since he’d last come here but it was still home. As his eyes met the barkeep, the two exchanged a soft smile. The man nodded his greeting from across the room and sank back into a chair beside the stairs. Hiding beneath his layers of clothing, he stretched his legs, removed a small parchment and quill and began writing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. I understand your concerns, I would argue that typing long descriptive paragraphs isn't a necessity of forum RP. Instead, it comes down to your writing and how well you can articulate a moment, scenario or narrative. I'd ask you to try your hand at it even if it turns out not to be appealing. There would be separate posts for each individual which ensures we know who's typing. I'd make it clear through formatting who was the NPC speaker (if there are any) and when building the atmosphere. A fair comment, it's not for everyone. I find it requires more imagination but it can work incredibly well with the right audience. Fantastic, I look forward to seeing you in action Rogan.
  5. This is an interest check to see those of you that are interested in forum RP, to see if it's worth investing the time before I commit. I don't tend to get much spare time (similarly to many of you I expect) meaning there are times where I find it useful to be able to jump into a forum thread, spark up some literary dialogue and return to it when I can. It can be a great way to progress a character without having to login for those of you that are on the fence. The thread voting is anonymous for those that wish to remain covert.
  6. Thanks, I've made some additions as well as grammatical changes to the post to improve the readability. I'll insert a literary paragraph somewhere to give you a taste of my writing style. Footnotes: Nightmare. Dream about Draenor, Mera and Medara. Medara facing away. Explains his psyche in an eloquent way.
  7. Haha thanks for the info chaps, hope to see you in-game soon.

  9. Name: Vedaar Gender: Male Race: Draenei Title(s): Vindicator Occupation: Mentor (formerly), Soldier, Vindicator Residency: Vagabond Affiliation(s): Shattered Sun Offensive (formerly), Naaru, Draenei, Alliance, Hand of Argus, Relatives: Mera (Wife)(Deceased), Medara (Daughter)(Deceased) Appearance: Clad in thick plate and chain mail, the stature of the Draenei is one that is rarely matched. Behind layers of metal is a steadfast character with an unwavering gaze. A fur cape, heavy on his pauldrons, drapes to the ground. Attached to his waist, a couple of parchments and a leather-bound tome act as perpetual reminders of his duties. It would be clear on first glances that the hoofed individual is a veteran, striped with pale scars over his skin. By contrast, a thin sea-shell pendant adorns his neck nested between long snowy white hair. Personality Nomad; Tends to wander, never remaining in one location for long. Stoic; The ghosts of his friends and family loom in his mind. He struggles to create or hold onto close bonds with other individuals due to a prevailing fear of loss. In the face of adversity, he has learnt to maintain a brave face and speculates if this third world, Azeroth, will see the same fate as his former two. Dutiful/Nihilist (Conflicted); The Draenei sense of duty, coupled with their pursuit of survival keeps his fiery heart burning. Despite this, grief and xenophobic thoughts have started to form cracks in his psyche. Pious; Unwaveringly devout to the Light like most of his kin. This can lead him to be close-minded or unsympathetic to those that are not. Blunt; Over time Vedaar has become lost to the formalities of conversation. Vengeful/Wrathful; Those that harm Vedaar or his loved ones are often met with an implacable vengeance. His willingness to forgive has been whittled away by years of war. Characteristics Undying love for stout and cheese, specifically Darnassian Bleu. The smell of burning flesh causes Vedaar to have flashbacks to the massacre on Draenor. Skilled with a hammer and chisel. Interested in the history of the species of Azeroth. Often sees the ghost of his daughter in other children. Knowledge of Mycology. Able to distinguish if edible or poisonous. Knowledge of Scribing imparted by his deceased wife. History Born aboard Oshu’gun after fleeing Argus. Began his life on Draenor as a labourer, mining arkonite within the Jorune Mine. Once a sociable character, Vedaar befriended the overseer soon thereafter establishing connections with the Artificer’s Guild. Here he met Ruhal, a respected Artificer and close friend. Vedaar spent many years as an apprentice mason, eventually lending a hand in the colonisation of Talador. Founded a family with his wife, Mera, an independent scribe based at Shattrath City. The two quickly formed a lifelong bond leading to the birth of their daughter, Medara. Fought relentlessly against the Orcish onslaught but inevitably lost his family to the bloodlust. Broke down and became unhinged during the Draenei retreat to the Zangar Sea (aka Zangarmarsh). With the support of Ruhal and lead by Velen, fled with the Exodar and crash landed in Azeroth. Fell into a bout of grief and solitude. Taken away from his woes by Ruhal, instead assisting in the adaption of the Exodar to become a Draenei foothold. Feeling the necessity to keep busy, Vedaar decided it was vital to hone his skills in combat as a vow to protect those closest to him. Enlisted in the Hand of Argus as a Blood Watch Peacekeeper to establish a military foothold in Bloodmyst Isle, falling under the wing of Vindicator Eliseel. Upon the re-opening of the Dark Portal, Vedaar jumped upon the opportunity to march with an Alliance Expedition back into remains of his homeland. After confronting many demons both figuratively and literally, he wound up at his old home, Shattrath City. Training with a renewed vengeance, he became a Vindicator under the Sha’tar. During his training he made friends with two brothers, Harvar and Halgaan. Aided as a footman for the Shattered Sun Offensive against the Sunwell’s destruction on the Isle of Quel’Danas. Harvar and Halgaan were reported slain in a bloody battle against several Man’ari. Vedaar withstood threatening injuries but managed to survive. With the renewed Sunwell, Vedaar was relieved of his duty in the Shattered Sun Offensive and returned to the Exodar in Azeroth, finding no solace in his former homeland. Harboring newly founded skills, spent the majority of his time developing younger warriors attunement with the Light or carving stone. Exhausted by the prospect of the third war, Vedaar did not partake in the campaign across Northrend but instead carried out training for young initiates. TBC... Allegiances Generally, the mortality of other races is insignificant compared to his lifespan. He tends to perceive them as impulsive, naïve and unwise. As he is alien to their traditions and history, often he will feel like an interloper. To most Alliance races besides the exceptions below, Vedaar is indifferent. If they are an ally of the Alliance, they are not an enemy to him. Night Elves/Kal’dorei: As their closest inhabitants on Azeroth initially, there is noticeable similarities between the Night Elves and Draenei. Both races possess a history with the Burning Legion, holding a close mutual hatred as well as aging far beyond their Alliance counterparts. Humans: Humans are seen to have potential as a promising young race being that they are pious and share enemies in the Horde with the Draenei. On the other hand, they are reckless and require guidance so as not to do harm to the world. Disloyalties Blood Elves/Sin’dorei: Although he fought alongside many during the Shattered Sun Offensive, Vedaar always holds Sin’dorei at a distance due to their former addiction to magic and sabotage of the Exodar. Orcs: Vedaar holds Orcs as a primitive race of savages, easily corrupt and sat on the brink of bloodlust. Warlocks/Death Knights: As individuals that have forsaken the Light to undergo darker principles, he does not trust any of those that study in these practices. This is especially true of those that manipulate Fel magic.
