[Guide to Rp] Demon Hunters

Recommended Posts

Introduction

Hello Everyone, i was thinking about the current guides around, and i figured it was a good idea to bring up a guide about Demon Hunters. I will try to fill in as much as possible without making use of RPG elements, and with as much information and help to get the inspiration for a character, yet without making a mess, neither write twenty pages of content. If there is any misspell, typo, etc. Please forgive me, and if there is something you think its wrong on this guide, do let me know.. With that said, let's start.

The Reasons

Demon Hunters had different reasons to become one.. One of the most general ones is a desire for revenge, driven by hatred and, sometimes, guiltyness.. Why revenge? well, back in the War Of The Ancients, were Queen Aszhara and her most loyal servants tried to summon Sargeras into Azeroth, many Night Elves and Highborne died. Some saw how demonic beings murdered their families while they stood powerless against them, and could only hide or run from this threat, or because they found unbelievable how Illidan slashed down waves of demons back in the War of The Ancients. Or simply finding a demon hunter along their path that accepted the request of mentoring them, there are many reasons for a Night Elf to become a Demon Hunter, and are far more flexible compared to Blood Elves.. Blood Elf DHs were all Sunfury before.. This means, they were part of the group of Belves that followed Kael'Thas Sunstrider after the destruction of The Sunwell.. The ones who remained loyal to the Illidari after Kael'Thas betrayal were the ones who became Demon Hunters.

The Ritual.

It takes a long journey for a trainee to finally become a true Demon Hunter.. One must be at top of their physical and mind condition to even try the dangerous ritual. When the mentor finds the apprentice ready for such, they are made to step inside a summoning circle. In said circle, a demon is summoned and the person inside of it must battle with the demon with no help from the outside. The demon summoned depends on the person inside of the circle, it could be a hate to a certain demon that made said one appear.. If the trainee is victorious and slays the demon, he/she will have to drink its blood and eat its heart.. Only 1 out of 5 survive the powerful ritual and after they eat the demon's flesh, they get a vision about the Burning Legion, seeing horrorific scenes of the endless armies and countless worlds that fell under the might of the Legion.. At this point, the trainee will gouge out his eyes and most pass out, entering in a dream-coma like state.

It's on this moment were the Demon hunter has to fight, inside their dreams, against the same demon as before, although this time the demon being stronger.. In illidan's novel, Vandel had to defeat it three times to win.

Powers

I'll start with Spectral sight on this subject;

Spectral sight is developed after the ritual is sucessful and the Demon Hunter awakes.. It can take even months to some to even be able to "see" things once again.. Spectral Sight allows the Demon Hunter to see everything as energy.. It is known that once a DH learns to control this kind of sixth sense, they can "adjust" it to their liking.. They have no problems distinguishing objects from people, the type of magic used or welling within someone. This gives them the infamous capability to hunt demons that disguise themselves or cloak themselves with spells. Demon Hunters have no trouble in finding cloaked individuals or magical auras. The blindfolds they carry are simply a cosmetic item, as it doesn't affect them having one or not, its up to the character.

The powers the Demon hunters possess are mostly tied to using fel magic and physical improvements, As shown with spells such as Fel Rush or Blade Dance, one can easly see that Demon hunters use fel and their own augmented bodies to achieve feats that seem impossible for a mere soldier.. A Demon Hunter is also in possesion of arcane tattoos upon his body.. While they can look fancy, they serve the purpose to contain the fel energies and the inner demon inside of them. At first, another hunter must do the markings upon the recently awoke demon hunter, but later they must be added by hand, it may imply that the first ones are the most painful, and its simply not tolerable to do by themselves at first.. The more powerful a hunter becomes, the more intricate the tattoos turn out.. They also serve as enhancements, that are sorted by choice, either making one stronger, faster, more resilant, have a better control of their fel, the posibilites are there.. The Hunters seem to also use fel infused weapons made of fel steel to help them on their journey.. The type of weapon used is up to the hunter and its not to be restricted only to Warglaives, one can use swords, a glaive,

The Inner Demon

BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER: The inner demon subject is a delicate one, and so far we have little sources to crave upon but the illidan's novel.. If you are going to RP having an inner demon that is actually influencing you, go ahead, it seems most of WoW's community accepts this, and neither me or anyone should tell you what you have to do, but going by Illidan's novel (Thanks to Biggrose for the quotes and information), there is no inner demon, its just you.. If you are still eager to the first option, you can go ahead and enjoy this section. If you want an alternative, (Thanks to Apoapsis) you can RP your DH as being influenced or one that refuses to accept the truth about it. Although you could simply say Vandal became one with his inner demon, and when he lost his mind, he couldn't distinguish himself from his inner demon.. To make it short, choose the one you preffer.. But the most important thing.. Enjoy rping it, and make others enjoy your presence aswell!

The Inner Demon is a core part of a Demon Hunter's roleplay... Once the demon is bound to the Hunter, it will speak through its mind to try and persuade him to join the Legion... The Demon will always, and i say, ALWAYS, affect someone's personality and behaviour and change it partially, or slightly.. It all depends on the type of demon and the willpower of the hunter, but a change will be there.. Technically, one can bind any demon to themselves.. Although its obvious to note that Pitlords and Eredar lords are simply impossible, and are just a suicide to even try to make sense to it. I will try to make a list of all the demons and the kind of changes they could give. Keep in mind, this is all what i -think- about it, (Since this is how you commonly see the demons behave and what we know about them).. You may or may not make it all the same way i did, each demon is different aswell, so you have many posibilities for each inner demon!.

Imps: The funny and Slippery Imps tend to avoid harm and mostly use spells, although the easiest to bind, a Demon Hunter bound by an imp is not to be understimated.. Leaving aside their chill and funny commentaries, a DH bound to an imp could work as a strategist, using fel fire from afar, make commentaries to taunt the enemy and all sorts of dirty tricks to be sucessful.

Felhounds: Felhounds have a specific task.. Devour Magic. They are the doom of mages and all spellcasters out there. Never satiated enough, Felhounds always seek for magic anywhere they go.. A Demon Hunter bound to this demon will be the best erradicators of spellweavers, making them a very dangerous foe to the ones who dare to oppose them with magic.

Sayaads: The devious Succubus, elusive and charming, always trying to strike from the inside. Seducing mortals and taking them to their dooms.. Pain and pleasure being one thing for them, and always willing to deliver it, demon hunters bound to a Sayaad may find themselves with a more approach on charming spells, invisibility, a slightly flirty attitude or particulary flexible and a desire to generate pain on their enemies.

Felguards: The common troops of the Burning Legion. They are the crazy juggernauts who assemble the frontlines and unleash all their fury and might on the battlefield, causing chaos and wrecking everything on their path. Demon Hunters bound to a felguard will find themselves surpassing their own physical strength, becoming more brutal and capable of enduring punishment that no mortal could withstand.

Wrathguards: Wrathguards are the elite fighters.. While Felguards charge to the battlefield like mindless berserkers, the Wrathguards are the ones who strike the enemies with deadly precision.. The Eredar Wrathguards are not ones to be played with, they are one of the biggest threats a Demon Hunter trainee could met in the summoning circles.. If one were to be victorious against those mighty trained warriors, they would receive the same physical prowess and intimidating presence.

Shivarra: Shivarras are the religious side of the Burning Legion. The seductive and brutal shivarras are mostly seen supporting the demonic troops of the Burning Legion, and the same use Illidan gave them aswell.. If a trainee were to meet one of those six armed, imposing figures, and manage to survive in their ritual, they would turn into a powerful asset of the Illidari leading the troops to battle if needed with  deadly and graceful prowess.

Observer: The Observers do more than just try to absorb magic like Felhounds do.. They seek knowledge and the secrets behind magic itself.. If a demon hunter were to bind this being to them, which is no easy task, they may develop a more secretive personality, trying to understand deeply the power of the fel and the spellweaving of such, trying to better their magic talents and to learn the darkest of the secrets that were involved with magic.

Aranasi:  An arachnid race subjugated by the Legion. A Hunter with the prowess and will to bind one of these rare species may gain indefatigable patience and tenacity. The Hunter may be more inclined to keep to the shadows, adopting a style of laying deadly traps and allowing Demonic prey to come to them instead. The Hunter with Aranasi essence may be able to lie in ambush for days on end being as still as stone until the perfect prey walks upon the carefully constructed web of cruel machinations that lie in wait. While this is a Hunter of either feast for famine, the Hunter might, though rarely, adopt a means of preserving prey. The Hunter may develop traits such as a manipulative and sadistic personality. Their carefully layed traps and snares may make them the most territorial of Hunters.

RPing Your Demon hunter

Section added because i forgot to add something like this. (Thanks Karvos)

So, now you have done all you needed and you are ready to RP your Demon hunter? that's cool.

It is perfectly fine to RP your DH as one that feels okay to reintegrate a bit into society, but that has his downtimes aswell.. I would advice not spending too much time in towns or cities aswell and trying to bring the RP outside of it, this could be done either in a phase that is not a town, or simply getting together a group of people that wishes to Rp Demon hunters/ Demons, to fullfill the experience!.. If you have to go with a more reclusive type of DH, let this help you. (NOTE: for all this situations, im taking it that you are using a disguise/trinket that casts an illusion on you.. This IS viable to do, as it conceals your demonic form, although a scryer may be able to see through it, and the smell of sulfur you will leave in some places could point you out if the place is not crowded or are looking at you specifically, although this is unlikely.. However, you may also feel free to go around with no illusions, although be far more careful with this choice, as some may not allow you entry in places for this)

1- You could go to cities, using your special sight on the ones you gaze upon to see if they are truly demons or not (With this done, i would recomend asking politely to said person in OOC and await his/her answer, as this makes things smooth).. If you find a demon, good!, you already know the disguse its using.. You could start with the next:

A: "Befriend" the demon, try to get information (this could be dangerous still, and suspicious, try to be careful with the words you use) , and lure him into a trap on a secluded zone with some excuse.

B: Stalk the demon from afar, and await the perfect moment to attack, mostly this means out of public's sight, but some expections may be done depending how your character reacts and behaves.

C:Lure him into a trap, either following a mortal the demon has interest in and use it as a bait, or using Witch's bane (which seems to lure evil beings to it, although i have no claim this is oficial at all, since wowpedia says " is said to have been used" )

How you deal with the demon depends on the type of demon mainly, how your character behaves in battle and what weapon it uses.. I would be, aswell, careful with how you show up your powers, since Demon hunters tend to be a bit overpowered like Death Knights, but its better to give them a few weaknesses aswell to make it more entertaining and enjoyable.

2- Your DH still needs to eat, drink and sleep.. You will need to regulary get supplies.. Visiting a market in a town or city to get this is a way of engaging in RP with someone aswell.. Get to know said person maybe, and you can get a new friend (who knows? maybe he/she also is a demon, and you can get yourself a surprise by it) and possibly a contact to rely for information when you are out..

3- Your DH could also need to repair its weapon and armor (if he carries any).. Although this can be solved if your character has any knowledge on blacksmithing.. You can take it to a blacksmith, be it a friend or a completly unknown person, to get it fixed.

4 - Your DH may also want to stay tuned about the last bits of information about the Legion, any strange attacks, presence of fel, etc.. This all can help you to track down possible legion affiliated mortals, or demons themselves, which means more RP for you.. This means visiting a city aswell, as information is something that flows around easly, or a town, which may be harder but still viable at all.. Maybe there is a guard, or a ranked officer taking a drink on the bar and you can simply go and befriend him, then try to see what information you can catch about it that you may not know yet (After all, you are a demon hunter.. You are there to hunt demons and you are allowed.. If a higher ranking officer can get a fel-weight out of his back by just telling you, why he wouldn't?)

5- Your DH could try and take a rest.. What's better than talking with someone else besides you inner demon to keep yourself busy? try to be a bit social!, more so when you are having internal problems (Inner demon) try to socialize with someone, maybe they even cheer you up a bit!.. Although don't mention them you have a demon inside you speaking at your mind, that may scare them.. When the only entity you can speak/listen to is the demon inside you for weeks or months, you may guess that it won't be nice for your sanity, specially if its a manipulative demon (Nathrezim, Shivarras, Sayaads). NOTE: With what i previously stated on the note of the section "The Inner Demon" This is currently not something to take much into note if you follow the "no inner demon" thing.. Already stated the alternatives to it, but if you chose the first option, please go ahead and try it!

The rest is up to you! you could get a group of people together and RP in your own phase and organize events to hunt demons (npc or player) and have a lot of fun like that! its always good to have someone like that, so always keep yourself polite and friendly to give others a good impression about you.

Demon Enocunters

This section comes for when you need to face a demon in Combat RP, either be a player or a npc DM'ed by a player.. I will try to say each advantage and weakness of the demons and try to encourage you to try certain tactics.. Although i would recomend for you to don't let this section be 100% accurate, most players will always have something that makes them different to the others, so one may have a spell the other doesn't, or use something the other doesn't, so each fight will be unique and require you to react according to such.. However, this is a more general point of view on the demons.. Here it goes:

Sayaad: The most common one you will see using an illusion to disguise itself, Sayaads tend to fight with shadow spells and a whip, they tend to be elusive and quick, delivering blows with the whip and using charm spells.. As a Demon Hunter, the charm spells alone won't work well against you, and the whip can be blocked by your glaives, or sword/s as its a quite inefective weapon in combat.. Be careful with the spells she uses, although Sayaads are resistant to pain, it won't take long until she falls to a Demon Hunter easly.. If your inner demon is a Felhound, you have an extra advantage absorbing the magic the Sayaad uses (although be moderate, get hit and make it a "fair" fight, although you have the upper hand in a 1 v 1)

Imp: You will rarely encounter an imp alone, and if you do, i will assume he will have no intention in fighting you.. Imps alone are an easy target for the regular Demon Hunter, although they are elusive and quick little bast**ds, you can outspeed them thanks to fel rushes.

Felguard: Felguards are by their own, brutes and the frontline shocktroops.. Big, powerful, yet a bit slow, Felguards aren't to be understimated.. They will hit you, and do it hard. It would be wise to block its hits and dodge them whenever possible, go for fel rushes and use agility to your advantage on this outcome.. Felguards are tough to bring down, try to hit his legs or hands as to disable either movement or weapon, use this to your advantage.. If you are one to use spells, you will find it less troubling, but don't let your guard down, Felguards aren't as stupid as they look, and will charge at you or try to dodge your spells.

Felhound: Felhounds may seem intimidating for their capability to eat mana and be the bane of spellweavers, but we Demon Hunters don't rely on spells as we use our weapons and augment our strength and speed via Fel infusions... The first thing you need to know about Felhounds, is that when they are filled enough with energy, they can multiply themselves several times.. This means that you must be extremely careful when using spells.. Use your weapons and fel (mainly to augment yourself, or a blow) to bring them down as quickly as possible, which shouldn't be an issue for you.

Doomguard: Be really careful with this ones.. Doomguards may look dumb, but they are far smarter and cunning.. Brutal winged monstrosities, huge in size and heavy armored, they are known for their strength and power in combat.. Most doomguards use a sword with them, although this can vary depending the rper.. While they have a big size and armor like Felguards, they seem to be more agile by the wings they posses.. As before, Demon Hunters are usually agile beings (Night elves and Blood Elves already being agile for their body shapes) you have something on your sleeve for it, but don't abuse of this.. Doomguards will probably bring you down if you don't keep yourself focused.. Try to see what tactics the other player uses, and either block them or counter them.. Doomguards are also vulnerable to magic (War of the ancients trilogy shows us this fact, as demonstrated magic-wielding characters)

Shivarra: Shivarras are a tricky one to face.. They are tall, quick, and have six arms.. This means, you have a six blades to avoid.. There is something that most players tend to forget, that dual wielding is not that effective based on the weight and how you can get unbalanced at attacking (although this is real life facts, can't use them in WoW that much), besides you need a prowess and dexterity to co-ordinate your six hands to attack in a syncronized way at your target.. Keeping this in mind, be very careful when engaging in melee combat against Shivarras, try to flank them from the sides to avoid the other side's three arms.. She is tall, use that to your advantage.. She will have to look down at you, and it will be harder to keep the pace up when you are constantly moving and slashing her.. Try to also hit her hands, eviscerate them or disable them to force her to drop the weapon. Shivarras vary, some mix melee and also use spells, others don't.. And not all of them will carry six blades..

Nathrezim: While you may see them very powerful, the illidan's novel showed us that a demon hunter still has the upper hand against them.. Nathrezim are not easy prey.. You will have a hard time to find them. They are the masters of deceive and manipulation, are very skilled with magic and tend to be effective fighters on melee.. Although this may sound difficult, Nathrezim are mostly ones to be behind the scenes, not going directly into combat. They are tacticians  mainly, so they are hardly discovered or engaged.. If you have to, remember that your agility and augmented strength are a keypoint in suceed, you will rely on using spells to protect yourself every now and then from their magical attacks (although Arcane tattoos focused on it can also work, or a felhound binding). Again, the tactics are using your cunning and seeing what the other player's tactics are mostly used, and counter them with yours, intelligence is the key to win (and being fair.. If you both had fun, you both win)

Aranasi: Aranasis are rare, more so Aranasi Rpers.. They tend to be the silent huntress type of demon, as a spider would, luring you into her lair and using the territory as her advantage.. Smart and deadly, with sharp wings that are heavy and resilent enough to use them as weapons themselves, and claws that could tear your flesh appart.. But leaving this aside, Aranasis seem to have no specific strengths.. They may have spiderlings with them all the times, that can be a problem, and she may use spells.. But leaving that aside, Aranasis don't have any clear weakness or strength, this match should be decided on intelligence and tactics used by both rpers.

Wrathguards: Elite warriors.. They dual wield weapons mainly and are a force to be reckoned with, cunning and precise on their blows.. This battle is also decided mainly by the combat rpers.. Wrathguards are armored with heavy plate, but mostly covering few zones to be relevant.. You won't be able to hit the hands so easly  neither their waist, as they are armored, but your fel-steel weapons should be able to penetrate armor easly (Wowcard Felsteel reaper describes it as "pierces through armor, flesh and hope" But this all should be taken lightly, as it doesn't specify what armor... Yet it seems useful to know it).

End of the guide!

Thank you for reading the guide, i hope you enjoyed it and you feel more confident when you have to create your demon hunter/felsworn character.. And if there is any error you wish to tell me, please inform me by the comments section.. See you all later!

There's no real proof of the demons affecting the inner demon. That's headcanon if anything.

But a nice start.

Despite my own doubts about RP'ing a DH, I'd just like to applaud you on taking the initiative on the matter, and actually giving me a little more insight in what bonus traits the different bound demons (can) give you as a DH, and whatnot. Gud shit.

Of the demons affecting the inner demon?.. I guess you tried to say the inner demon affecting the character. If so, you must consider aswell that you are basicly binding a demon's soul to you.One that can speaks to you inside your head and that you are basicly restraining back, the arcane tattoos serving this purpose. Somethings were left in blank (as it is commonly seen on the lore). For example; what happends if you join the legion, accepting your inner demon's offering? why restrain the inner demon anyfurther, if you already join them? the most obvious thing you could think about is that your soul merges with the demon's soul.. Again, that's my way of seeing it, because many things simply aren't explained and we are left clueless on it sadly :S....

It's not something Blizzard has expanded on or clued us in on. But what I mean is the inner demon is not entirely affected by the demon devoured. It's just...there. Feeding off the negative emotions, trying to push the hunter, etc.

Oh, sorry, i got it wrong then.. And yeah, i get what you say.. Although it would seem that each demon is different. in the novel (don't remember what page), Vandel's inner demon, a felhound, tells him that he wants Vandel to become stronger before joining the Legion.. Its a bit open, but maybe each demon reacts differently to binding? afterall, we got demons like Mother  Shahraz, who are more flirty.. or like Alizabal, who is constantly telling you about how many things she hates, so variety is there.

this is more of explanation to demon hunters rather than a guide on how to roleplay them. maybe include how a demon hunter would react in certain situations?

Something minor to add is just that DHs can not use arcane at all. Not everyone knows once you get fel corrupted so much you lose your ability to use the arcane. Source for this is Jace Darkweaver, he comments about how he lost his ability to use arcane entirely

Text evidence from the Illidan novel directly states that the "inner demon" is not a real thing. Vandel, the Demon Hunter protagonist, assumed it was an "inner demon" whispering to him, but in reality it was his own thoughts: fel magic had eroded his moral values to the point where did he not even recognize himself.

"For a moment, he wavered. He listened to the voice of his inner demon and realized it was his own. His soul had been tainted when he devoured the felhound. It had absorbed the demon’s evil and been twisted. There was really no other demon than himself. To give in to the voice of temptation would be to forswear his quest for vengeance and break faith with his dead wife and child. He did not want to kill Illidan. He wanted to kill the things that had made Illidan into what he was. He understood now as he never had before what the Betrayer stood for, because of what he stood against."

This is an INCREDIBLY common misconception, I guess people only read half of the book.

hello Biggrouse, sorry to answer really late, but here is a piece of information took from Wowpedia

"After the demon hunter awakens and their spectral sight begins to take effect, they are given tattoos which keep their inner demon from overwhelming them, but it is still always there, talking to them and trying to get them to turn to the Legion. arcane energy counters fel energy, thus they mark their bodies with arcane runes to keep the fel forces in check. Keeping their demons at bay with those tattoos and willpower  is necessary to not become demons themselves.  Each ritual to become a demon hunter is different and, as such, no two sets of tattoos are the same."

As you can see by this statement, it gets to tell you that  there is an inner demon, and that the arcane tattoos work to keep it at bay.. This all, aswell, is confusing for how one contradicts the other, and how both statements are valid.. One could guess that what the narrator says, is spoken in non omniscient third person, and that Vandel does that, assume... But it may not be true at all, it may be his way of seeing things.

I do not mean to sound rude to you but I am giving you a first hand source whereas your defence is Wowpedia, a third hand player-made encyclopedia which has drastically dropped in quality as of recently.

I have read the Illidan novel, the source of most of the new demon hunter lore. The quote you linked is based on information from the EARLY part of the novel, where Vandel is under the impression that the dark thoughts he is having are from a demon rather than himself.

I cannot tell you why Wowpedia's editors have the incorrect information. I cannot tell you why they only seem to have read half of the novel. But I can give you a direct source proving that what you are reading on Wowpedia directs a first hand source.

No worries, you are not sounding rude to me, i understand ya.

In anycase, i guess then 99% of Dh rpers and guides around are all wrong.. As you can see, you don't need to do much but type "dh rp guide" to find them, most using also illidan's novel, and stating the inner demon as i did.. Aswell as many DH rpers that i know, and some even before Legion was out that have been rping for years on it... So yeah, i cannot also take Illidan's novel as a 100% accurate source, as i cannot aswell take all in wowpedia 100% accurate.. We can discuss this as much as we want, but there will always be DH rpers that focus on their inner demons aswell (which as far as i see is the mayority of them), and some who will not (which im yet to meet one)... In anycase, no hard feelings, truly.

Yes, many other Demon Hunter guides make the same mistake, but I do not think a mistake should be allowed simply because it is a common one. The "inner demon" plot is a large part of the Illidan novel. The character, Vandel, is falsely under the impression that the demon he consumed is influencing him, but it is revealed towards the end of the novel that it is not.

To ignore that plot arc is essentially ignoring a large part of being a demon hunter: you are being corrupted, you are changing, and it's not the demon. It's you, you're changing.

I have challenged others in the past and no one has provided me a source for the "inner demon" other than the Illidan novel, where it is later revealed that the "inner demon" was fake all along.

Please understand that I am not trying to antagonize or prove anyone wrong: I simply do not want incorrect or fanon RP ideas to be paraded as fact.

I do understand you, the problem is when someone says a thing. And this other someone says its different... As of now, its  a conflicting subject.. I will edit the guide now, as i find it a need for readers to know it, yet there are 99% of the dh rpers that see it in a way, and others see it in another, at the end, i cannot hope to make a guide without a mistake (or maybe not).. In anycase, thanks for the help, ill make sure to correct it.

You can still roleplay that as a character flaw to some extent where your Demon Hunter believes he or she is being influenced or perhaps refuses to accept the truth. It doesn't necessarily have to be wrong as long as you do some corrections. None that'd affect roleplay I would think, since this is mostly an OOC realization before server launch.

The inner demon, simply put, is Fel corruption addling the mind. It is an instinct so powerful that it can even take the form of a voice in your head, it constantly coaxes you to submit to your 'inner demon' - a part that all Fel corrupted beings have.

The arcane tattoos stop you from becoming just any old Felsworn, and allow you to resist the temptation just a little easier than normal.

As Biggrouse has said, there is no true demonic soul mingling with your own, it's just your mortal soul conflicting with the energies of Disorder, or Fel, constantly driving you to madness. I imagine that even a placebo effect would be possible - if you absorbed a Succubus's soul, the corruption might grip that placebo by the throat and make you actually think you're hearing the Succubus's voice in your head. So yeah, for RP's purposes, you can totally rp out an 'Inner Demon' even in its most literal rendition - just recognize that there's no demon but yourself in today's canon.

Damn, they retconned the whole inner demon thing? Or was it ever officially stated that they have an inner demon to begin with? Either way as trippy and cool as the arc idea of your character coming to terms that they have no inner demon, the whole idea of actually battling with the soul of the demon you consumed is much better IMO.

Up to you if use it or not.. At the end, im not even sure what to believe.. I have to say i still use said idea with the inner demon.. Ones will say Illidan's novel protagonist simply found out the truth, or others (such as me) will say what its stated on the guide already.. Honestly? just rp whatever of the two concepts you wish, both are good to take.

Salutions :D

I believe the whole demonic traits is from the headcanon page, make sure to inform people of what is headcanon and what isn't headcanon. Though I am fond of it, it gives more depth. But, also I would say some of this can vary on that Hunter's personality and such. But, in depth guide nonetheless. It's not aimed to make every DH a copy of one another like some guides I've seen.

Hey Elandris.

Well, if you mean the "demonic traits" in the means of the "inner demon" section and how each demon affects a char, yes it can vary on the hunter's personality. The little described on the demon's traits (such as personality changes, etc) is mostly what we see ingame with either conversations from friendly demon npcs, enemy demons yelling at you or having different voice lines (particulary bosses, like mother shahraz) with the different types of demons (shivarras more religious, sayaads being the flirty type, fel guards being aggresive, etc.).. Blizzard didn't got much in-depth with how each demon affects the hunter.
