INTRODUCTION

WC2DarkPortal.gif.407545103bcf5989b3146654a614bb20.gif

Events set in an alternative timeline where Ner'zhul's victory in Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal is canon.

Arthas Menethil took the throne at year 620 (28 years after the opening of the Dark Portal) by the King's calendar. Months later the young king had announced campaign to chase down the Horde that has been discovered on the previously barely known continent of Kalimdor. The Horde still coming back to their senses after their own wars now face their old enemy hunting them for their past acts. The Horde is once again on the defensive, but they got nowhere to run and do not want to abandon the home they had fought for.

The Alliance invaded from the Marshes, Durotar and had hoped to send an expedition to the Northern Kalimdor, but faced opposition in form of the night elves for entering their forests. The Horde were taking losses, but the... The world itself started to come apart. During the chaos of this war, the Cataclysm had happened and surprisingly enough offered the Horde a better form of defense with the seas striking at the Alliance fleet and the Great Divide separating the Barrens.

New Zeth'Gol, clan fortress of the Bleeding Hollow, anticipates an attack from the Alliance and pulls its defenses together. This is where you come in: a member of the Horde that ended up in the fortress for different reasons. Perhaps you've answered a call to arms, visited the fortress for business or many other possibilities. What matters is that a bloody battle is coming to the fortress and right now you stay behind its sturdy walls.

ALTERNATIVE TIMELINE LORE SUMMARY

Main

Spoiler

  • Orc ending from WC2:BtDP has happened, which resulted in Ner'zhul's plan completed.
  • Current year is 620 by the King's calendar (Timeline for MU Cata).
  • Events of MU Third War didn't occur, the Alliance prospered and the Horde rebuilt.
  • Draenor never became the Outland, but is still a stagnant and dying land. With Ner'zhul's plan successful, many clans began to leave for the promised land to conquer.

Horde

Spoiler

  • The orcish clans ended up on their promised world to conquer, which ironically turned out to be Kalimdor of Azeroth. Not knowing this, the clans took it for a new world.
  • The rifts opened all over Kalimdor and many clans seemingly randomly ended up in different locations which they later settled.
  • Larger rifts had remained, which brought their ruinous power to Kalimdor and warped some locations similarly to what had happened to Draenor.
  • Similarly, the rifts opened themselves all over Draenor and resulted in some of the Draenor fauna escaping into Azeroth as well.
  • The unity of clans started to fall apart, as orcs began to understand that this wasn't the promised land and instead it was Azeroth.
  • Thrall managed to unite willing clans that remained behind the Dark Portal and promised to guide orcs away from the Alliance. This is when he had encountered one of the exploring orcish ships from Kalimdor and learned of the land.
  • Thrall had discovered the Darkspear Islands and fled the land along with his new allies - jungle trolls.
  • By the time Thrall arrived, there were rebellions and infighting. Clans were opposing each other again.
  • Thrall's first meeting was with no other than Ner'zhul himself, who had tested the young orc almost relentlessly and had soon came to an understanding that he may be the next Warchief after all.
  • Once Thrall had gotten Ner'zhul's approval, the young Warchief began uniting clans and started with the ones loyal to the Elder Shaman - the Bleeding Hollow and the Shattered Hand.
  • Bonechewer and Burning Blade were two main opposing clans and also many smaller clans that were formed in the process. -Tauren were overrun by the centaur and quillboar that were pushed from the Barrens to Mulgore by the settling orcish clans.
  • Nazgrel led the Frostwolves to aid the tauren once they pleaded Thrall for help.
  • The united clans started to push out the opposing ones from their lands. This resulted in the Laughing Skull pledging themselves to the New Horde.
  • Ner'zhul now concerned himself with the remaining rifts and aimed to close them. Some of those rifts were secured by the opposing clans and creatures, so the Elder Shaman had recruited a mighty mok'nathal to aid him in this task. His name was Rexxar.
  • Shattered Hand and Warsong had ventured into the night elven land and were attacked by them. The night elves had already dealt with hostile clans, so they didn't give the New Horde their chance. Grom and Kargath had to make a deal with no other than Teron Gorefiend and his loyals to stand a chance against the demigod Cenarius.
  • Once the New Horde had cleansed their lands from the enemy clans, the Horde started to actively build and settle the land.
  • This resulted in the Horde suffering from overpopulation and starvation. Issues with food soon started to improve once Kargath and Grom returned successful with their campaign in Ashenvale, with the forest being used as a hunting ground.

Alliance

Spoiler

  • Lordaeron remained as the leader of the Grand Alliance. Quel'thalas and Gilneas split from the Alliance.
  • The Alliance was mostly rebuilding and taking the much needed time to rest after many years of conflict with the Horde, thinking that they are done with for the most part.
  • Alterac was annexed by Stromgarde and the land had given up without much of a fight due to its state, with the rumors that the nobles of Alterac had sold out the land despite Lordaeron's plans. Terenas was terribly ill at the moment and the Alliance chose to close their eyes on this incident, as many didn't forgive Alterac's betrayal. Because of that King Thoras chose to remain in the Alliance for a little longer.
  • Antonidus had returned and filled his vacant spot within the Six, only to find out that figures such as Kel'thuzad were gaining influence and support. He returned shortly before the city of Dalaran was shook with the news of Modera's assassination. After lengthy debating, Antonidus had regained his status as head of the Six and Kel'thuzad remained at its prominent leader.
  • Stormwind was rebuilt and prospered, with the Stonemasons becoming one of the prominent political powers in the nation.
  • Thrall's rebellion had raised awareness and made the Alliance act against the remaining clans on their land.
  • Arthas Menethil took the throne at year 620 by the King's calendar, after his father had fallen victim to an illness.
  • Khadgar, who had been thought to be dead or missing, had appeared in the throne room of Lordaeron. The celebrations for his return were interrupted as the wizard brought terrible news - the Horde is aiming to summon more of their kin to the land and plan an invasion. The mages who had scouted the land with their magics had caught on to energies all too similar to the Dark Portal's magic.
  • With Modera's spot still empty, Khadgar was quick to occupy it.
  • King Arthas Menethil was quick to act and gathered the Great Alliance to discuss these terrible news. Antonidas was against, but his own council outvoted him. The rest didn't need convincing, as they were all still shook after the Second War. Arthas decided to act immediately and ordered the forces to be pulled together for the invasion.

  • Fandral Staghelm had taken the offensive against all of the invaders after Cenarius' banishment. It was Fandral who had ordered to attack the human expedition that chose to land on their territory.
  • The Shen'dralar found a reason to deal with members of the Shadowmoon Clan.
  • It is known that Mogor the Ogre visits feasts of King Gordok of Feralas.
  • Felwood of MU was never corrupted and is still considered a northern part of Ashenvale.

Available Races

Orcs

Race that founded the Horde. Commonly split into many clans, but recently some orcs aim to unite under the banner of the Horde itself in a way to find unity for their people rather than constant war and struggle. Playable clans/factions: Frostwolf, Warsong, Laughing Skull, Bleeding Hollow, Burning Blade, Blackrock, Shadowmoon, Shattered Hand. They also can be representatives from clans that are neutral to the Horde or be clanless.

Jungle Trolls

Darkspear tribe that Thrall had rescued from their isle. With Sen'jin and his son falling prey to both invaders and primordial owners of the isle, Zalazane was put to lead after his mentor's passing. Now out of his mentor's shadow, the witch doctor puts his best to lead his people into the bright future. These trolls can also be found within the orcish clans (Mostly in Laughing Skull, Warsong and Bleeding Hollow).

Tauren

Shattered tribes of the tauren, that were hunted by both centaur and quilboar while the orcish clans were busy with their own civil war. Yet during their worst, the Frostwolf clan had arrived to rescue the tauren tribes. The tribes were never united and returned to their nomadic ways, with some skeptical of the Horde's intentions still. Yet many tauren can still be found in different orcish clans, such as Frostwolf clan. The Grimtotem tribe was nearly driven to extinctions by the demon worshiping clans driving them out of their homelands, yet many still seem to either ally with clans or join them. Common clans Grimtotem find themselves in are Laughing Skull and Shadowmoon.

Ogres

Ogres of Draenor that had followed Ner'zhul to the promised land and later through the rifts in order to find a new land to pillage. Mogor was ordered by Ner'zhul to start gathering the scattered ogre tribes and start challenging their leaders to unite tribes under the Horde banner. It is a deal that Mogor didn't need to be convinced in, especially when he was promised help in such battles. Majority of ogres are members of the Laughing Skull clan, but some many still be found in different clans such as Bleeding Hollow, Shattered Hand, Shadowmoon and Blackrock.

Goblins

Mercenaries of from the Second War era and influencers from the cartels. Many goblins can be still found within the Horde, joining whichever clan that finds them useful.

Rare Races

Forest Trolls

The Amani did not forget that the Horde had abandoned them to the elves during the Second War, but some trolls were still found among the clans that ended up beyond the Dark Portal. Many of the trolls had no choice but to remain with the Horde. Revantusk tribe is loyal to the Horde and is rumored to have talks with the Amani, trying to find a way to settle the grudge and unite the two forces once more.

Ice Trolls

The Frostwolf clan expedition to Northrend lended the Horde a connection with the Drakkari trolls. Even if they don't see the Horde as a potential ally yet, some of the ice trolls grow curious about the new lands to explore and study.

Quilboar

The Children of Agamaggan were crushed by the warring orcish clans into submission. With the surviving members of the races ending up as servants, workers and sometimes warriors. There are still tribes that oppose the Horde, but they are mostly in hiding.

Highborne

The Shen'dralar are known to communicate with the Shadowmoon Clan, in hopes of earning secrets from the different world. Because of that, some of the highborne can be found helping the clan. Prince Tortheldrin clearly desires something from Ner'zhul, so he instructs his brethren to cooperate.

Undead/Death Knights

Many of the loyal death knights that had followed Ner'zhul to the promised world. Although many of them had scattered to chase their own goals, some still remain loyal to the Elder Shaman and can be found within the Shadowmoon clan.

OOC

As mentioned, the phase is set in a scenario where Ner'zhul plan has been successful and he had managed to create rifts leading into a different world rather than into clutches of the Burning Legion. This world ended up being Kalimdor ironically, which the orcs took as this new alien world for the first time. Due to Ner'zhul's narrow escape, the Third War didn't happen and there weren't many world-shaking events till year 28, which is Cataclysm in MU. With that the Alliance is stronger and the phase storyline will start in the heat of the battle located on Kalimdor, where the Alliance invades to crush the Horde before it becomes a major problem again.

If the phase will end up successful, I may create the Alliance counterpart that is set in the same setting.
