WoW Window not launching from Launcher

Hi! So I recently got invited by a friend to join his game. When I downloaded the launcher it would go through the update, I'd press play and it would never launch. I found myself waiting for over 6 hours for the window to pop up and it never did. However, checking the Task manager I did notice that an Instance of World of Warcraft was running, there was just no window launching along with it.

if you're downloading the game through the launcher, it's going to take time dependent on your internet connection

 

if you've waited for 6 hours, though, that seems concerning; what's your internet speed like? maybe it's taking a long time to download files for the client to launch properly because of that?
