The Weimar Republic was a democratic federation created by the League of Nations post the Treaty of Versailles in order to re-balance the economic and martial situation in central Europe, creating a nation built off the ideals of democracy and open neutrality. It served as a platform to allow for both Communist and Fascist ideals to go on the rise and is generally viewed as one of the darkest periods in German history.
