ArvickCorpsebane 65 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) A hero... that's what you once were. You stood boldly against the Shadow and purchased another dawn for the world... with your life. But the evil you fought is not so easily banished; the victory you claimed, not so easily held. For now, the specter of death looms over the world yet again and it has found new champions to bring about its final reign. Knights of darkness, wielding runes of death and destruction, bound by the will of the Lich King. This is the hour of their ascension! This is the hour of your dark rebirth... Summary Welcome to the Ebon Highguard! - The Ebon Highguard is a Death Knight roleplaying guild recently created on EpsilonWoW. The main goal of our guild is to bring Death Knight Roleplayers together and enjoy seeing the events of Legion unfold through the eyes of common Death Knights, who restlessly fight against foes of Azeroth. While not always heroic, their deeds shape and change the world forever. To capture this, the guild will be hosting events based on the premise of player choice and smart decisionmaking. Those using their brain rather than character power will be rewarded while those that fail to do so will be punished. We will be starting in the Legion timeline, using the pre-patch event as our jump-pad into the expansion. Eventually, we will progress through all the important events of Legion until we reach 7.3. Keep in mind that player choice will be essential. You will shape the events, you will dictate the progression and whatever you decide, should it be for the better or worse will change the world around you. Decisions As a heavily progression-based guild, you have to keep in mind that decisions WILL matter. Stupidity is punished just as much as intelligence is rewarded. Your characters are expected to suffer injury for failing and they are expected to go through changes during the roleplay. I understand this might be a dealbreaker to some of you, but keep in mind no story is interesting with the characters stagnant. Truth to be told, a character that never does anything and never goes through any hardships will never be interesting. This is why I will be pushing this idea extra hard towards you: You are not intangible, your character can and will get injured and nothing is stopping them from dying either. (Of course, death will be executed only with the owner's consent and agreement. I won't be killing characters of people that would rather see them live and pull through. Just stay out of obvious death traps and foolery and you will do just fine.) Storyline As mentioned above, we will be progressing through the Legion events regarding both the overall plotline and the Order Hall campaign. We do not intend to involve the Deathlord in any capacity besides perhaps an NPC. Instead, we will be focusing on a more isolated plotline. Think of the Death Knights in the guild as the Champions/Followers, who are left to do the second-tier adventure while the Deathlord is on the Broken Shore, grinding Nethershards. Regardless of that, the Deathlord's actions will affect our timeline. Battle of Light's Hope, the assault of Undercity and whatnot will all be plot points for us. While the Deathlord is off killing people without consequence, we will be the ones cleaning it up after him. Lore Characters We don't have any plans on involving major lore characters besides the Deathlord, who will commune the Lich King's will, Thassarian, who will serve as a side questgiver NPC alongside with Koltira and The Four Horsemen. All of them will be used sparingly and only in a way that won't obstruct or mess up with their lore. In no way do we allow or sanction people associating themselves with and/or even being lore characters beyond minor, insignificant and irrelevant interactions. People who will claim greater association with lore characters need to ask one of the officers or myself first. If they are not approved for it and disregard it, they will be issued a kick from the guild and risk the retcon of their character's existence or death. Recruitment This is a simple matter, really. Players that want to join the guild will either have to post here or contact me in-game, alternatively, we can hang out on Discord. You will be subverted to a few questions about yourself and the character while you are also free to talk to me about anything regarding the guild. Once you are due for an invite, contact me in-game whenever I'm online and I will file it away. To pass the recruitment process, all you need is basic lore knowledge of the Death Knight class and a rundown of my Death Knight guide, which you can find here on Epsilon. You will find the link to it down below. People that are denied into the guild won't be able to apply again for at least another month. Please, don't be salty when you're denied access. This sort of filtering exists only to ensure the quality of both IC and OOC, so that our members don't have to suffer pointless drama. Of course, new players are always welcome, you just have to do a little bit of research and specify that you are new to Death Knight roleplay to get access. Newbies will be invited or denied depending on their OOC performance, not Lore knowledge of roleplaying skills. Rules I follow a simple mantra. Don't be a dick. If you can manage to keep a civil relationship with the guild and obey all the server rules, you are welcomed in the guild. If you fail to uphold the rules in any capacity, you will be sanctioned accordingly. This can range from a simple warning to a guild kick. Guild kicks based on your OOC actions are permanent, meaning you can never re-apply for the guild again, so be careful how you act towards your fellow guildies! - Just keep your mind fresh and you will do just fine. Some special rules involve: 1.) No Heavy Custom Lore 2.) No ERP 3.) No Political/Religion discussion in g-chat (unless sanctioned) 4.) Not mixing IC and OOC (if you break this one, you are pretty much a goner) 5.) Being nice to other guilds, phases etc. Remember, you are representing the guild whenever you are online! - We don't want to give off the wrong impression. Races/Classes Here is the list of all playable Races and Classes for the guild. I will use red indicator for classes that are of higher difficulty and won't be given to new members upon joining. Yellow indicator for classes that are playable by new members if they prove knowledgeable enough to play the class during the interview. Green indicator will mark classes/races that newbies can play without the required skills. If your race/class is not on the list, you can still argue for your place in the guild, so long as your character has a reasonable backstory. PS: No Panda DKs. Period. Beira 13 Posted July 27, 2017 Being a dorf nerd as I am, wouldn't dwarves be able to play a "2nd Gen DK"? Korth'azz was a member of the original Four Horsemen, who would've been raised prior to the "3rd Gen DKs". I know humans are the more common ones, but he does lend to the possibility of dwarves getting in on that old school unholy paladin deal.
ArvickCorpsebane 65 Posted July 27, 2017 It is not out of the question at all. Both High Elves and Dwarves are a possible alternative.
Norshar 50 Posted July 27, 2017 I might bring Manetaus, I don't know. Waiting to see what Nilith is going to do since she's a key element in his story. If she doesn't, then I'll join I suppose.

Highlander 56 Posted July 27, 2017 Avrick, I recommend changing the Worgen race to Yellow since it's a different story of how they came to be.

Amunet 2 Posted July 28, 2017 Been in the guild for a while now and whether or not you're planning on creating a DK, definitely take this guild in consideration, it has a bunch of great people who also happen to know their stuff regarding death knights. ( Definitely not just mentioning this so that my DK can have more people to push around, hehe )
Norshar 50 Posted July 28, 2017 I got some stuff to sort out, once I get home tommorow i'll get my stuff sorted and think about joining up.

Tarsis 4 Posted September 12, 2017 What would it take to perfect/pull of the arts of a Lich? Never RPed one before, though I've always been keen to try.
Romeo 320 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) This is a fucking awesome guild thread. Organized, sexy references, and simple and easy to read. I have yet to make a death knight, or anything belonging to the ebon blade, but maybe I'll cook something up for this awesome guild! Looks really good man. A question thought, I'm a huge fan for both nerubians and liches, and I've been totally eyeballing the chance to roleplay a nerubian. Are you certain they're not your thing? I make a mean nerubian jafar advisor. Edited September 12, 2017 by Romeo
sirstephen 5 Posted September 12, 2017 @Tarsis you can whisper me ingame (I play on Bemlo or Tyngo) if you need Lich advises! I've learned from the best Lich RPer I've ever seen (back on Div) but sadly he doesn't play anymore...

Tarsis 4 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) Hey sorry for being active much, or replying to the thread and whispering in game, been occupied mostly. Will definitely give you both a whisper etc, might have a character available to join if allowed. 3rd Gen Lordaeronian Frost Rider. You may ask, What is a Rider? You may also be thinking about the 4 Horseman, nay. Not that either. For a 3rd and 2nd, a Rider is a master of their class an elite to their brethren, when one truly wishes to pursue their path with all knowledge some ascend to become Riders. A more powerful version of a regular Death Knight that has mastered his or her path however not on par with second generations and first generations. Riders essentially play the part of the edged spear, often leading a charge to do as much damage and break lines before withdrawing or playing a pivotal support role such as in the case of my character, the hardened of limbs through frost power and the slowing down of foes. I wish I could honestly give you lot the once link I had towards "Riders" however, sadly I believe it is gone. Edited September 13, 2017 by Tarsis
TheDemon 109 Posted September 13, 2017 So what you mean is, that rider is essentially a strong death knight, right? (not really into comparing power levels of the different generations as their traits and combat style are very different and it would be a long discussion) but one ting: don't pull the Dark riders of Deathwind Pass into this, we are not sure what is the deal with them, that whole Medivh's curse was not explained in great detail.
